Skagit County Wells Search Help

Overview

This version of the Wells Search provides several options for searching the Skagit County Wells data. Most of the options will respond to your typing in text with a list of valid entries in the database that you will then select by clicking with your mouse on a list item or if you hit the Enter key the top list item will be selected. The results will be displayed in a grid format with a summary of information. If you click the View link in the Report column at the far left another window will come up with the details associated with this Well entry.

Specifying search criteria

A list of Search options are listed horizontally across the top of the screen. You can select the type of Search by clicking on the text or radio button associated with the text describing the Search type that you would like. Once a Search Type is selected the radio button will change to indicate it's selected. Only one Search option will appear as selected. The Search Type selection will be saved if you have Cookies enabled.

Address Search

The Address Search allows you to search by House #, Road, and City. You can enter text in any field, but you must enter something into at least one field. You can enter text in multiple fields as well. The criteria is surrounded by wild cards and uses 'Contains' logic. So, for instance, if you're looking for something on Bow Hill Road you can type in 'Bow' or 'Bow Hill' into the Road text box and it will find any wells with Roads that contain the text you typed in. Clicking the Search button or hitting the Enter key will return results.

Owner Search

The Owner Search allows you to search by Last Name, First Name, and Organization. You can enter text in any field, but you must enter something into at least one field. You can enter text in multiple fields as well. The criteria uses a wild card at the end of the text you type in and uses 'Begins With' logic except for the Organization which uses 'contains' logic. So, for instance, if you're looking for someone with a Last Name of Johnson you can type in 'John' or 'Johnson' into the Last Name text box and it will find any wells that have Owner Last Names that begin with the text you typed in. Clicking the Search button or hitting the Enter key will return results.

NOTE that the Owner search searches BOTH current owners and the original owner who had the well installed. The results will show the current owner when that information is known, otherwise it will show the owner who had the well installed.

Region Search

The Region Search allows you to search an area by Township, Range, and Section. If you're not familiar with how these work, you can get a better understanding of these areas by looking at Skagit County's mapping application, iMap, and going into the Layer List and selecting the Townships and Sections layers. If you zoom in the Section numbers will be displayed on the map and the Township and Range is also listed. This search allows you to enter in a combination of Township, Range, and Section and then by clicking the Search button any wells in this area will be returned as results.

Parcel #, DOE Well Tag, DOE Well ID, NOI, and Skagit Well Id Searches

In all these searches the criteria is entered into a single text box. This text box is linked to the database and after you type in 1 character if there are items in the database that begin with the first characters a list will appear. You can continue to type into the text box and the list will change as you type to match the characters you have entered. When you see the item that you are looking for click that item or if it's the top item in the list you can also hit the Enter key to select the item. You MUST select an item from the list. Once you select the item a Result summary will be displayed below in a grid format. In some cases you will get a result of one record, in other cases you will get more than one record.

Search results

The initial search results will appear in a grid format below the search criteria area. These results are a summary of information relating to each Well Record returned from the search in the Skagit County Wells database. NOTE that this summary information shows the current owner of the property associated with the Well if that information is available in the County's Assessment & Taxation database. You can view a Well Report for an individual record by clicking the View link in the Report column at the far left. Another window will come up with the details associated with this Well entry. The Owner listed in the report is not necessarily the current owner, but the owner recorded when the data was entered into the Wells database.
