Skagit County Property Search Help

Overview

This application has been designed to provide access to as much property-related information as possible in one search interface. Some of the new features include auto-complete functionality that will display a list of valid entries that 'begin with' the text that you type in. The searches also allow the use of wildcards (*). Using wild cards you can change the logic from 'begins with' to 'contains' by using the wild card at the beginning of your search string.

Address Example: *bennett*sedro

The example will display a list of properties that are on a road CONTAINING the text 'bennett' AND the text 'sedro' effectively showing properties on any roads named Bennett in the Sedro Woolley area.

Search Options

The search options currently allow for searching by Address, Parcel Number, Owner Name, Road, and XrefID. When you select an option, the text in front of the Search text box will change indicating the type of search that you've selected and what you need to enter into the text box. All of the options except for Road include the auto-complete feature and 'begins with' logic and allow you to select a single property. They also allow you to enter in partial information and use the ENTER key to return a list of multiple properties. Each property in the group will have a link to view the details of that property.

The Road search option uses 'contains' logic which effectively puts a wild card at the beginning and end of the text you enter in. The result of a Road search is usually a group of properties rather than a single property. Each property in the group will have a link to view the details of that property.

NOTE that the search option that you last used will be saved and the next time you access the Property Search the same option will be selected.

Results Options

If a search returns a single property, the default results display 'Details' about the property. The blue bar below the Search text box is a menu of various Results available related to the property selected. By clicking on the opion in the blue bar you can view the associated results. The top portion of the Details page contains Jurisdiction and Zoning information as well as links to other areas that have information regarding the selected property like Recorded Documents, Septic Systems, and Wells.

If the search returns multiple properties, the default option (Site Address) displays the Parcel Number, Owner Name, and Site Address in a spreadsheet style format. The 'Includes Owner Address' option also includes the old Site Address and Owner Address. With either of these options you can click the Parcel Number link and it will take you to the Property Details results screen described in the preceding paragraph.

NOTE that the results view option that you last used will be saved and this is the option that will be used for other searches that you do.

History

The left column will display up to the last 8 properties that you have viewed. This feature uses cookies, a small data file on your computer, to save the ids of the properties that you have recently viewed and then displays them as a link that can be easily accessed again.

Clear and Clear Prior Searches

The Clear link will clear the data from the screen below the blue bar used to select the type of results to be displayed and any text that was typed into the text box.

The Clear Prior Searches link clears the prior search links in the left hand column.

Print

The Print link offers a 'print version' of the web page that doesn't include the Banner, Global Menu, or the History in the left column. It effectively prints the results in the area below the blue bar used to select the type of results to be displayed. A print button will also show up when you click on the property photo.
