Telephonic Hearing Rules & Instructions

Please contact the court or your attorney to find out whether your hearing will be held telephonically.
The court may be reached by phone at (360) 416-1250 or by e-mail at districtcourt@co.skagit.wa.us
Rules for Telephonic Hearings:
- Call from a phone with a good connection.
- Call from a quiet location to reduce background noise.
- Call in to the hearing 5 minutes before your hearing is scheduled to start.
- Mute your phone while you are waiting for your case to be called.
- Do not announce yourself when you appear. Wait to be called on by the Judge during roll call or when your case is called to be heard.
- Press*6 to take your phone off mute when the Judge calls your case and while your case is being heard unless otherwise directed by the Judge.
- If you are represented by an attorney, talk to your attorney before the hearing to decide who will be speaking.
- Identify your name for the record when you speak. Example: “This is Ms./Mr. ____”
- Speak loudly and clearly.
- Follow directions given by the Judge about when it is your turn to speak.
- If you have an objection to what the other side is saying, simply state, “objection”. If you hear the person for the other side say “objection”, you must stop speaking and wiat for direction form the judge as to who should speak next.
- Do not interrupt or talk over a person who has been called upon by the Judge.
- When your phone is off mute, you must be in a quiet location away from young children or other background noise so we can hear you. Press *6 to re-mute your phone if needed.

- Place your phone on mute once you have connected to the hearing.
- Take your phone off mute when you are called on to participate.
- To ensure a clear record is made, the parties and judge cannot speak at the same time.

Reglas para Audición Telefónica:

- Identifique su nombre para el registro cuando hable. Ejemplo "Esta es la Sra. Sr.____”
- Habla en voz alta y con claridad.
- Siga las instrucciones dadas por el Juez acerca de cuando es su turno de hablar.
- Si tiene una objeción a lo que el otro lado está diciendo, simplemente estado, "objeción". Si escuchas a la persona para el otro lado decir "objeción", debes dejar de hablar y esperar forma de dirección el juez en cuanto a quién debe hablar.
- No interrumpa ni hable por una persona que ha sido llamado por el juez.
- Cuando el teléfono está apagado en silencio, usted debe estar en un lugar tranquilo lejos de los niños pequeños u otro ruido de fondo para que podamos escucharte. Presione * 6 para volver a silenciar su teléfono si es necesario
