Bowman's General Store, Anacortes, WA, 1890
Amos Bowman founded Anacortes after purchasing land in 1877. He named the site after his wife, Anna Curtis Bowman. This photo, taken around 1880, shows Bowman's general store and post office. The man with the beard is William Allard. He is getting supplies and putting them into his wagon.
Some of the things you could buy at the store were farming tools, dry goods, seeds, and household items.
