Grove's Chill Tonic Tonics and bitters were over-the-counter medicines of the 19th century. They were often advertised for women and children for a variety of ills. Some came from old family recipes or folk medicine, but were bottled and sold at the general store. Some were sold nationwide. Despite the claims, they did little to help the patient. Many contained alcohol. |
