Beans, Peas and Corn
The Bulk Section General Store Style

The general store was grouped into departments with shelves and counters. Along the front of the counter, bins and drawers were built in. They held spices, ground sugar, coffee, seeds and flours.
Here dried beans, peas and corn are displayed in sample windows. From the shopkeeper's side, a drawer can be pulled out and the item scooped up and weighed. If the amount was large, the peas or beans could be poured into a cotton sack. If it was a small purchase, they were poured into a poke, a cone of paper made by tearing a piece of paper from the paper cutter roll and folding it up.
