Paper Cutter

Paper or plastic? There was no choice at the general store, not even bags. Once a purchase was made it could be wrapped up in paper from the roller on the counter.
First, the shopkeeper would pull out a length of paper on the counter top, then lay the item on it, and wrap it. From a cone above, string would be measured out and tied around the package. If the item was loose, like dried peas, it could be poured into a cone of paper and folded up. All items that could be carried could go into a wicker basket the shopper brought.
