Razor Kit
Need
a shave? It took a little work in the 1890s
Look at the picture. It took five pieces of equipment to shave:
1) The shaving
mug $1.00
2) A shaving brush. $.30
3) A straight razor with a folding handle $1.25
4) A leather strop $.40
5) A cake of shaving soap $.10
To
get the perfect shave:
Put your special sudsy, foaming shaving soap in the mug and wet your
brush. Work up lather. When the foam is as thick as whipped cream,
put it on your face. Sharpen your razor's edge on the strop, and then
shave. Wipe off excess soap foam with a damp cloth.
