Skagit County Commissioners sign resolution extending fluoridation implementation timeline

SKAGIT COUNTY – The Skagit County Board of Commissioners signed a resolution today extending the fluoridation implementation timeline for a portion of the Skagit County Public Utility District No. 1 (PUD) water supply an additional two months to March 15, 2009.

The Commissioners, acting as the Skagit County Board of Health, on May 15, 2007, passed the resolution ordering the PUD to provide for optimally fluoridated water in a part of the PUD water supply within twelve months, which order was conditioned on a satisfactory agreement with a potential private third-party funding source.

On May 13, 2008, the Board passed a resolution providing the timeline for the implementation of fluoridation be extended for a period of eight months to January 15, 2009, without the imposition of penalties or fines.
