WSU Skagit Master Gardener Program Coordinator Hired

Mount Vernon, Wash. – The incoming Master Gardener (MG) Program Coordinator for Skagit County will be Kari Russom, who will begin work in January 2010 to continue the leadership of Britt Shellenberger, exiting coordinator. Kari will manage the public education for sustainable gardening program and act as a resource for Master Gardener volunteers.

Trained and certified members of the Master Gardener volunteer program sponsored by Washington State University Extension, Master Gardeners provide information to home gardeners about sound and sustainable gardening practices. This includes integrated pest management, efficient watering technologies, recycling of garden wastes and cultural methods for preventing and treating plant disease.
