Ecology to host Open House and Public Meeting regarding Samish Bay Watershed Fecal Coliform Cleanup Plan

Ecology and local water quality partners are hosting a public meeting on Thursday February 26th to present the public review draft, “Samish Bay Watershed – Volume 2 TMDL and Implementation Plan.”
Location: Allen Blanchard United Methodist Church, 16775 Allen West Rd., Bow

Time: 6:30 pm Open House
7:00 pm Public Meeting

Presentations will be by State Dept of Health, Ecology, Skagit Conservation District, and other local partners. Ryan Walters of the County Prosecutors office has agreed to moderate the meeting, and representatives of County Health, Planning and Development Services, and Public Works will be available to answer questions, as will a representative from State Department of Agriculture Nutrient Management Program.
Ecology will present the results of its monitoring study of freshwater discharges, including the Samish River, to Samish Bay, in 2006-7. We will also review the Implementation Plan – the strategy and list of improved management practices for livestock, onsite sewage system inspections, and education and outreach to landowners that we and the local partners believe will lead to improvements in water quality.

Additional information about the Samish TMDL (Total Maximum Daily Load, or Water Cleanup Plan) is available on an Ecology website at:
