Ecology to host Open
House and Public Meeting regarding Samish Bay Watershed Fecal Coliform Cleanup
Plan
Ecology and local water quality partners are hosting a public meeting on Thursday
February 26th to present the public review draft, Samish Bay Watershed
Volume 2 TMDL and Implementation Plan.

Presentations will be by State Dept of Health, Ecology, Skagit Conservation
District, and other local partners. Ryan Walters of the County Prosecutors office
has agreed to moderate the meeting, and representatives of County Health, Planning
and Development Services, and Public Works will be available to answer questions,
as will a representative from State Department of Agriculture Nutrient Management
Program.
Ecology will present the results of its monitoring study of freshwater discharges,
including the Samish River, to Samish Bay, in 2006-7. We will also review the
Implementation Plan the strategy and list of improved management practices
for livestock, onsite sewage system inspections, and education and outreach
to landowners that we and the local partners believe will lead to improvements
in water quality.
