Minor Changes Announced
For Guemes Island Ferry Sailing Schedule
New schedule goes into effect March 1st, 2009
SKAGIT COUNTY Skagit County Public Works Department has announced some minor changes to the ferry sailing schedule. This is due in part to customer feedback from the quarterly Guemes Island Ferry Committee meeting on Guemes Island. Please visit the Guemes Island ferry website for the new sailing schedule. New (orange colored) sailing schedule brochures will be available at the ferry office on Wednesday February 25, 2009.
Minor changes to early evening run.
No Extra Trips at 6:00 p.m.,
6:30 p.m. or 7:00 p.m.
1 extra trip when ferry departure times are 1 hour or more apart.
When a holiday (New Years Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving
or Christmas) falls on Sunday through Thursday, ferry service will be provided
on the Saturday schedule, stopping at 10 p.m.
New Fare Collection Procedure
Purser's will be collecting all fares including punching multi-ride tickets for passage. There will be no need to have tickets verified or have another crew member take the fare. Customers will be randomly checked for tickets by the deckhand onboard the vessel at anytime as per the Cash Collection Policy. Loading procedures are posted on the ferry website.
During times of three crew operation it is important for our customers to understand that once the gate goes down, business is closed for that particular run. If you pull up and want to get on the ferry, it will not be allowed, this will help keep us from being delayed, said Ferry Operations Manager Ron Panzero.
Ferry dry docking
A tentative haul out and maintenance time period for the ferry is scheduled to start April 15, 2009 for a period of 10 days. Passenger only ferry service will be provided by Arrow Launch Services.
Drivers are asked to please set their parking brakes while on the ferry. We have had several instances where vehicles have rolled into other vehicles. Drivers are reminded that if your vehicle rolls into another or someone is hurt because you failed to set your brake, you are liable.
