Welcome to Skagit County
March 27th, 2009
CERT Class Scheduled in Mount Vernon
(Mount Vernon, WA) Skagit County residents will have the opportunity to learn how to assist themselves, their families and their neighbors after a disaster by enrolling in a Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) class this spring. Class topics include small fire suppression, disaster first aid, search and rescue, disaster psychology, and disaster preparation. Participants in the class also prepare themselves and their families to be self-sufficient for a few days following a disaster, such as an earthquake or severe winter storm. The CERT program is a national curriculum, and is found in many communities in the United States. Classes in Skagit County will be held on Monday and Wednesday evenings beginning April 20th, and will run for four weeks. Classes will be held at the Mount Vernon Fire Department. For more information or to register for the class, contact the Mount Vernon Fire Department at 360-336-6277 or Skagit County Department of Emergency Management at 360-428-3250.
