Earth Day Celebration
Make it a real Earth Day celebration by taking the bus to the Swinomish River workparty/celebration on Saturday, April 24th from 9AM-4PM for a rewarding day of environmental service projects, a traditional salmon lunch, learning about environmental resources and listening to music and storytelling! This is a free and family-friendly event taking place at the Swinomish Community Center, located at the Swinomish Tribal Community (across the Rainbow Bridge, La Conner).
Skagit Transit will give free rides for Earth Day participants on regular routes on Saturday. April 24, to and from the Swinomish land. You can 'write your own ticket' by simply writing "Swinomish Earth Day" on the paper. Then just hand it to the driver on the following buses:
Route 207 will deviate up
to the Skagit Valley College stop at
approximately 8:10 to pick up any passengers at the shelter in the parking lots
just east of McIntyre hall - a DYI park-and-ride experience.
Passengers will then ride down to Skagit Station and connect with route 615, departing at 8:45 am.
Anyone can take this bus #615, leaving from Skagit Station in downtown Mt. Vernon at 8:45, arriving at the Swinomish Reservation about 9:10 am. There will be a route 615 departure from Shelter Bay & 1st St. headed back to Mount Vernon at 4:10 pm.
Passengers coming from Anacortes to the event would need to catch route 410 to March Point Park & Ride, where they could connect with route 615. The first 615 eastbound departure from March Point would be 9:45 am, arriving on the reservation about 10:10 am. There will be route 615 departures from the reservation headed to March Point at 3:10 pm and 5:10pm.
