Guemes Island Ferry Operations Update

SKAGIT COUNTY - The M/V Guemes will be out of service for regularly scheduled maintenance and dry docking starting Wednesday April 15, 2009 through Saturday April 25, 2009.

Ferry Operations Manager Ron Panzero wishes to notify customers to be aware of changes during this period.

  • Tuesday April 14th 9:15 a.m. run to Guemes will be changed to 9:10 a.m. and will be Hazardous Material only. The 2:00 p.m. run off Guemes will be Hazardous Material only. When the ferry returns to service, hazardous material runs will continue on their normal Wednesday schedule.
  • Passenger only ferry service starts Wednesday April 15th @ 6:30 a.m. through Saturday April 25th and will operate on the normal ferry sailing schedule.
  • Skagit Transit will provide bus service on the island during this period and will operate on the dial-a-ride basis. To schedule a pick-up you can call the bus driver directly at 360-770-0310. You may also schedule a pickup by calling 360-299-2424. There is no charge for riding the bus.
  • Anacortes Parks Department has graciously allowed us to use the Kiwanis parking lot for overnight parking. However, the two eastern most parking slots must be left open for park users. Please use only the parking spaces. Last year we had vehicles parked along the curb which is not allowed. You may be towed if this occurs.
  • We have spoken with Anacortes Police Department who have agreed to step up patrols through our parking areas during this time period.
  • We will be providing additional disabled parking at both the Anacortes and Guemes Island terminals.
  • The ferry holding lane along 6th Street will be stripped for angled parking. There will be no parking in the ferry lane on the dock so that we can provide a loading and unloading area as well as accommodate the additional disabled parking.
  • 23 Trip multi-ride vehicle tickets will be extended for the period in which the ferry is out of service
