Envision Skagit 2060
to host two public meetings next week
The Envision Skagit 2060 project will host two public meetings next week: an
open house for members of the general public and a meeting for elected officials
billed as a "Conversation on Regional Collaboration."
The public open house will take place on Wednesday, April 25th, from 4:00 pm
to 8:00 pm, at the Burlington City Council Chambers, 833 S. Spruce Street, Burlington.
The meeting will provide members of the public an opportunity to learn about
and comment on the Envision Skagit Citizen Committee's recommendations, which
were released in October 2011.
The Conversation on Regional Collaboration will take place on Thursday, April
26th, from 9:00 am to Noon, at the same location. This meeting will engage elected
officials from Skagit Council of Governments (SCOG) jurisdictions in a discussion
about the Envision Skagit Citizen Committee's recommendations.
This is the first of two such meetings of SCOG elected officials, with a second
following in late May. These meetings are part of the final phase of the Envision
Skagit project where participating organizations are considering possible implementation
of the project's recommendations. Additional information about these meetings
will be posted shortly on the Envision Skagit website: www.skagitcounty.net/envisionskagit.
The Skagit Council of Governments (SCOG) is a voluntary organization of local
governments, including cities, towns, tribes, ports, Skagit PUD, Skagit Transit,
and Skagit County, whose purpose is to foster a cooperative effort in addressing
issues, policies and plans that are common and regional.
The Envision Skagit 2060 project is a partnership among Skagit County and numerous
local and regional organizations, including conservation groups, tribes, local
farmers and foresters, cities and towns, economic development interests and
universities. The effort is funded with a grant from the Environmental Protection
Agency with substantial in-kind contributions from Skagit County and its partners.
