Due Date for First Half Property Taxes is April 30, 2009

SKAGIT COUNTY – The due date for the first half property taxes is April 30, 2009, according to Skagit County Treasurer Katie Jungquist. State law requires that payments postmarked after that date are subject to a 1% per month finance charge. In addition, a 3% penalty is assessed if the payment is made after May 31, 2009.

Senior citizens and disabled persons are reminded that if they own a residence or mobile home and are 61 years or older, or are retired because of a disability and make $35,000 or less, they may qualify for a property tax exemption.

County residents may remit tax payments by credit card via www.officialpayments.com or 1-888-272-9829. The Jurisdiction Code is 5611. A fee is charged for this service. Payments can also be dropped off at the drop box located near the stairs in the parking lot behind the courthouse.

Jungquist encourages anyone who does not have a tax statement or needs assistance in anyway, to contact the Treasurer’s office at 360-336-9350 or at Treasurer@co.skagit.wa.us
