Granite Sculptures to Move from Gilkey Square to Historical Museum
La Conner - The granite
sculpture group "Crossing Point" that has been a familiar sight at
Gilkey Square will be moved to the grounds of Skagit County Historical Museum
to accommodate a new design by the La Conner Parks Commission next week. "The
Museum is pleased to receive these wonderful pieces on a permanent loan basis.
Their local nature fits well with our mission to engage the public in the understanding
and enjoyment of Skagit County's unique cultural history," stated Pat Doran,
Interim Director of the Museum. The sculpture group, which is the work of the
Northwest Sculptors Association, includes "The Crossing Point Drum"
and two child-size pieces: a canoe and a tugboat. After they are installed on
the Museum grounds, the sculptures will continue to be part of the Walking Tour
of the La Conner Sculpture Exhibition.
The Museum is located at 501 S. 4th Street, at the top of the hill in La Conner.
