Filing for Candidacy in 2010

SKAGIT COUNTY - Filing for elective offices for the 2010 ballot begins Monday, June 7, 2010, and ends Friday, June 11, 2010, during the normal business hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

For the first time, Skagit County candidates will be able to file for office online while using a credit card to pay the filing fee. Starting June 7, simply go to www.skagitcounty.net/elections, click on "Online Candidate Filing," and follow the directions.

Online filing will be available 24 hours a day from 9:00 a.m. Monday, June 7 through 4:00 p.m. Friday, June 11. Online filing and credit card payment means candidates need not appear in person at the Elections Department. Candidates for Precinct Committee Officer (PCO) can also file online.

Candidates for office in Skagit County can also file using either of the following methods:

  1. File in person in the Elections Department in the Skagit County Auditor's Office located on the second floor of the County Administration Building, 2nd & Kincaid Streets, Mount Vernon.
  2. Candidates who will be out of the area during the filing period can file by mail beginning Friday, May 21, 2010, and ending Friday, June 11 at 4:30 p.m. Filings received through the mail before May 21 or after June 11, regardless of postmark, are invalid. Contact the Elections Department of the Skagit County Auditor's Office for more instructions.

All candidates must be registered voters of the district in which they are seeking office.
