Ferry returns to service Saturday, May 21, 2011
SKAGIT COUNTY - The Guemes Island Ferry will return to service Saturday, May 21, 2011, at 3:15 p.m. after being shut down for eight weeks due to dock construction.
Saturday, May 21, 2011, from 3:15 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., the Guemes Island Ferry will run on a regular Saturday schedule. On Sunday, May 22, 2011, the Guemes Island Ferry will return to its regular Sunday schedule from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. The sailing schedule for the car ferry is available at www.skagitcounty.net/ferry.
Beginning Saturday, May 21, 2011, Skagit County will charge fares for anyone traveling on the vehicle ferry. Summer fares are in effect.
The Mystic Sea will run over the weekend on the temporary passenger-only sailing schedule. The Mystic Sea will make its last run between Cap Sante Boat Haven and the temporary floating dock on Guemes Island on Sunday, May 22, 2011, at 8:00 p.m.
The Skagit Transit shuttle will be on Guemes Island over the weekend to assist with transportation needs during the passenger to vehicle ferry transition. On Sunday, May 22, 2011, the driver will take the 5:30 p.m. ferry from Guemes Island.
Beginning Monday, May 23,
2011, only the Guemes Island vehicle and passenger ferry will be in operation.
The 6th Street and K Avenue parking lot will be available for ferry users. Over
the weekend, Contractors will be staging equipment in the Railroad parking lot.
Please pay attention to "No Parking" signs at the entrance of the
Railroad parking lot.
Skagit County is opening the vehicle ferry early. The Contractors will continue to work in Anacortes and on Guemes Island for the next week, or so. "We appreciate your patience as we finish up this very important job," said Ferry Operations Manager Rachel Beck.
