Skagit County Government Publishes Information on Social Networks
SKAGIT COUNTY - Skagit County has begun expanding the way it communicates Press Releases and Emergency Alerts to the community by utilizing the free Social Networking services Facebook, Ning and Twitter. In addition to Email Subscription Lists, Skagit County has also been making Press Releases and Emergency Alerts available via Really Simple Syndication (RSS) feeds for several months.
Using existing free social networking tools that can integrate RSS feeds into these Social Networking sites, updates are automatically posted to these services when our Press Release or Emergency Alert page is updated with no additional cost to the county.
These Web 2.0 technologies make important information available to a much broader audience and gives the constituents convenient access to Skagit County Government news through a variety of devices and platforms.
