Cooling Centers Open
in Skagit County
With temperatures exceeding 85 F today, and with predictions for possible higher
temperatures over the next few days, area residents are encouraged to drink
plenty of water and seek relief from the unusually warm weather. Shopping malls
and movie theaters offer air conditioning and a cool place to take a break from
the heat. In addition, the locations listed below are open as cooling shelters
during the next few days for persons that do not have air conditioning in their
homes and would like to cool off in an air conditioned space for a few hours.
ANACORTES:
Anacortes Library, 1220 10th Street
Open 11:00 am to 8:00 pm, Monday through Thursday; 11:00 am to 5:00 pm, Friday
Anacortes Senior Center, 1701 22nd Street
Open 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday
BURLINGTON:
