Steve Abel completes Mediator Certification through Mediation & Facilitation Services

SKAGIT COUNTY – Steve Abel has joined the pool of 17 certified mediators providing pro bono service for the Dispute Resolution Center of Skagit County.

Steve attended the 40-hour Professional Mediation Training in November 2008. In Steve’s words, “I have spent 30 years providing services to the communities in which I resided, and would like to continue to provide services in a bit different arena. Mediation provides a valuable community service with tangible results.”

Upon completion of his training Steve applied for and was accepted into Mediation Services’ intensive practicum program. He has committed many hours observing mediation sessions, co-mediating with experienced mediators and finally passing the professional standards exam for certification.

Steve is the retired Fire Chief of the Mount Vernon Fire Department and continues to work as a consultant with Fire Departments. In his spare time he Co-Captain’s the S/V Victoria Rose with his wife Cindy.
