Former Assessor Mark Leander
Passes
It is with great sadness that the Commissioners announce the passing of Mark Leander, a close friend and committed public servant.
Former Skagit County Assessor Mark Leander passed away Wednesday afternoon, August 10, 2011, after a five-year battle with brain cancer. He was surrounded and supported by his family at the Life Care Center of Burlington.
Commissioner Dahlstedt had been a close friend of Leander's since their student days at Burlington-Edison High School 44 years ago. "Mark was a tremendous community leader, a committed family man, and an admired public servant to Skagit County," said County Commissioner Ken Dahlstedt. "I don't think there is anyone who worked harder for the public. He will be missed greatly."
Leander, 58, served at the Skagit County Assessor's Office for 15 years. He also served many years on the Burlington-Edison School Board and was very active in and devoted to his church and choir.
It is with great compassion
and encouragement that we extend our sympathy to Mark Leander's family.
