Sustainable Landscaping: Easier On Your Back, Your Wallet & The Environment

Experienced gardeners seeking to enhance their horticultural knowledge are invited to take part in a workshop scheduled for Thursday, October 15, 2009 in Mount Vernon. Linda Chalker-Scott, Ph.D. will discuss planting of trees and shrubs to avoid cultural, disease and insect problems, with a bit of myth-busting for good measure. Sustainability, or “going green,” will be woven throughout the program, which is being presented by WSU Skagit County Extension Master Gardeners. Cost is $20 per person, and a box lunch may be purchased for an additional charge. Registration deadline is October 5.
