Skagit County announces release of Skagit County Water Quality Program Annual Report

SKAGIT COUNTY - Skagit County Public Works announces the release of the Skagit County Water Quality Program Annual Report for the 2011 Water Year. This report summarizes the findings of Skagit County's ongoing surface water quality monitoring program, including summary data tables, graphs of important parameters, and appendices with all data collected during the first eight years of the program.

Significant findings of the report include a mixed set of positive and deleterious trends in important water quality parameters such as temperature, dissolved oxygen, and fecal coliform. Data from Skagit River monitoring stations indicate that the river is in good shape, but many Skagit tributaries and streams in the Samish Basin fail to meet state water quality standards.

The report can be viewed on the Skagit County web site at: www.skagitcounty.net/scmp

Questions and comments on the report should be addressed to Rick Haley, Water Quality Analyst, at 360-419-3424 or rickh@co.skagit.wa.us
