Clean Samish Initiative Public Meeting slated for September 27
SKAGIT COUNTY - The Clean Samish Initiative partners will hold a public meeting
on Thursday, September 27, 2012, from 6:00-9:00 p.m. in the Skagit County Commissioners
Hearing Room at 1800 Continental Place, Mount Vernon.
The first half hour of the meeting will be an open house with displays showing
specific activities and projects underway to reduce fecal coliform pollution
in the Samish watershed.
The Clean Samish Initiative, led by Skagit County, is a coalition of federal,
state, and local agencies working together to address serious pollution issues.
Agenda items will include actions that are working and community interaction
to determine new ideas to reduce pollution levels.
Partners in the Clean Samish Initiative include Skagit County, The United States
Environmental Protection Agency, Skagit Conservation District, Puget Sound Partnership,
Upper Skagit Indian Tribe, Swinomish Indian Tribe, Samish Nation, Washington
State Department of Ecology, Washington State Department of Health, Washington
State Department of Agriculture, Skagit Conservation Education Alliance, Taylor
Shellfish, Skagit Fisheries Enhancement Group, Western
Washington Agricultural Association and local citizen groups.
Residents in the Samish Watershed are encouraged to attend.
