SKAGIT COUNTY - As a reminder, the 2012 Guemes Island Ferry haul-out will take place starting at 7:00 p.m. Sunday, October 7, 2012 through Wednesday, October 24, 2012. The M/V Guemes will depart Anacortes for Foss Shipyard in Seattle, WA on Sunday October 7, 2012 at approximately 6:30 p.m. The car ferry's last run will occur Sunday, October 7 at 5:45 p.m.; that evening, passenger-only service will be provided on the last three runs of the night at 7:00 p.m., 7:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. The vessel is scheduled to return to service Thursday, October 25 at 6:00 am.

To improve reliability, lower costs, and protect capital improvement, Skagit County adopted a maintenance program that includes an annual dry-docking of the Guemes Island Ferry as necessary. During the haul-out, Skagit County will remove and replace one outdrive, remove and replace two propellers, paint portions of the superstructure, deck, and void spaces, strip and clean the fuel tanks, replace the generator keel cooler, perform other small maintenance items and complete the US Coast Guard dry-dock credit.

Arrow Launch will provide a passenger-only service beginning October 7, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. that will operate according to the regular non-peak sailing schedule. Passenger fares will be charged according to the non-peak fare schedule. The passenger-only vessel accommodates 49 passengers and carries both bicycles and small motorbikes. Beginning Sunday, October 7, 2012 at 8:30 a.m., Skagit Transit will provide a shuttle bus on Guemes Island to provide transportation to and from the ferry dock. The shuttle will operate as follows: Monday through Saturday; 7:00 a.m. - 11:45 a.m., 12:45 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Sunday; 8:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., 12:45 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. Additional information about schedules, fares, and the Skagit Transit shuttle can be found at www.skagitcounty.net/ferry and at www.linetime.org.
