Health Department reports that blue-green algae toxins were NOT detected in Lake Cavanaugh water sample
SKAGIT COUNTY - A water sample from an algae
bloom along the north shore of Lake Cavanaugh was submitted for algal toxin testing on September
20. The two toxins of concern, Microcystin and Anatoxin-a, were NOT detected in the sample.
Residents and lake users should still be aware that lake conditions can change quickly.
As a precaution, people and pets should avoid drinking from and swimming in areas of the
lake with intense water color and/or surface scum. Areas that appear clear and scum-free
pose little risk of toxin production.
