Dahlstedt appointed to Chair of National Association of Counties' Food Safety Subcommittee

SKAGIT COUNTY - Skagit County Commissioner Dahlstedt was appointed to the Chair of the National Association of Counties' (NACo) Food Safety Subcommittee of the Agriculture and Rural Affairs Steering Committee as well as Member of the Rural Action Caucus Steering Committee.

"Committee leadership at the national level is a serious commitment and a big responsibility, even more so this year with a federal administration engaged in developing policy on a number of issues facing counties," said National Association of Counties President Glen Whitley.

The Agriculture and Rural Affairs Steering Committee is responsible for all matters pertaining to legislation affecting the economy of agricultural counties, rural development programs, and conservation and environmental programs affecting agriculture. The committee is also responsible for overseeing platform amendments and resolutions from other steering committees that have a significant impact on rural counties.

The Rural Action Caucus Steering Committee represents America's rural counties before Congress and the Administration, dedicating its efforts towards solving many critical issues that impact rural life and development.

"It is an honor and privilege to be appointed to NACos leadership team. I look forward to representing Skagit County and working on the key issues affecting our county as well as others across the nation," said Dahlstedt. "Nothing could be more important for our citizens than a safe and healthy food supply."
