Landslide Awareness Workshop, November 19, 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

SKAGIT COUNTY - On November 19, 2011, Skagit County Public Works will host a free Landslide Awareness Workshop from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at the Fidalgo Elementary School Cafeteria located at 13590 Gibralter Rd., Anacortes. The public is invited and encouraged to attend.

The first hour of the workshop will include presentations from prominent geologists. Workshop presentations will include the following:

The Causes and Types of Landslides

Geohazard Critical Areas

Surface Water and Vegetation Management for Steep Slopes

Management Tools for Homeowners

The second hour of the workshop will include an open house where guests can collect educational handouts including information on landslide do's and don'ts, landslide factsheets, and contact information for geotechnical engineers. Skagit County staff, licensed engineering geologists, and others will be on hand for the workshop.
