Public Health encourages Skagitonians to use the State Data Dashboard for COVID-19 data tracking in new year
Beginning Monday, January 3, 2022, Skagit County Public Health will no longer be updating ongoing COVID-19 case, hospitalization, death, and demographic data on its website. Instead, Skagitonians are asked to refer to the statewide Data Dashboard for all COVID-19 related data.
The Washington State Data Dashboard has been operational since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. Local health jurisdictions have relied on data collected and vetted by the Washington State Department of Health (DOH) since this time.
The Data Dashboard, found here, is the most reliable source for COVID-19 related data. The site includes a variety of data, including state and county-level daily status, cumulative case counts, epidemiologic curves, and demographic data. This is also the best location to find state and county-level vaccination data, including percentages of partially and fully vaccinated populations. Please note that all data collected by Skagit County is reported to the State.
To search for Skagit County data, be sure to select “Skagit County” along the left-hand side of the dashboard. Across the top of the Dashboard, folks may select from a variety of data sets, as well as categories including Cases, Hospitalizations, Deaths, and Vaccinations.
“We understand that this change may be a bit uncomfortable for some people—especially those who are keeping track of local data at home,” said Jennifer Johnson, Skagit County Public Health Director. “But by shifting away from reporting on our webpage and encouraging people to use the state Dashboard, we are actually ensuring that folks have access to the most data possible.”
For Skagit’s current (daily) status, click on “Current Status” at the top-left of the Dashboard. For those searching for historic (cumulative) case numbers, click on “Cumulative Counts” at the top of the Dashboard and be sure to select “Skagit County.” Shift between Cases, Hospitalizations, Deaths, and Vaccinations to view our daily numbers.
By scrolling further down the page, you will also find Summary Data Tables and a variety of helpful reports. These reports are updated weekly or bi-monthly by DOH. Some reports of interest include:
