CLEAR AND BEAVER LAKE
LANDOWNERS VOTE IN FAVOR OF LAKE MANAGEMENT DISTRICT
SKAGIT COUNTY - Clear and Beaver Lake landowners voted in December to form a
lake management district by an 82 percent majority. As requested by the Clear
and Beaver Lakes Advisory Committee, Skagit County has been assisting with the
formal formation process of Lake Management District No. 4 for Clear and Beaver
Lakes, as defined in RCW 36.61. The primary goal of the Lake Management
District will be to control and/or eradicate non-native aquatic noxious weeds.
The Board of Skagit County Commissioners signed a resolution submitting the
question of creating Lake Management District No. 4 for Clear and Beaver Lakes
(#R20060394) on November 21, 2006. This resolution authorized County staff
to mail ballots to the land owners within the proposed boundaries of the Lake
Management District asking the voters if they are in favor of forming the district.
County staff is currently drafting an ordinance for the Board of Commissioners
approval that will officially form the district. This ordinance will be followed
in 2-3 months by a Public Hearing to confirm the assessment roll.
As required in RCW 36.61.100, the counted ballots will be available for
public inspection at the Skagit County Public Works Office; 1800 Continental
Place, Mount Vernon, WA 98273.
