SKAGIT COUNTY PUBLIC WORKS SCHEDULES INFORMATIONAL MEETING FOR BEST AND MCLEAN ROAD INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENT PROJECT

SKAGIT COUNTY – The Skagit County Public Works Department is planning safety improvements at the intersection of Best and McLean Roads west of Mount Vernon during the summer of 2007. The public is invited to an open house scheduled for Tuesday, January 16, 2007, 6:00 p.m. at the Fredonia Grange, near State Route 20 and the Farm to Market Road intersection.

The purpose of the meeting is to present proposed designs, answer questions and receive comments. The topics to be discussed and presented during the meeting include:

  • Current traffic patterns and how to reduce the high rate of crashes and improve safety.
  • Design the intersection to handle trucks and farm equipment.
  • Improve traffic flow during high volume instances (for example, Tulip Festival).
  • Long term and short term solutions to traffic flow and safety.

Public Works staff will be available to answer questions. People with special needs or disabilities, who wish to attend the meeting, are asked to contact Skagit County Public Works 48 hours in advance so needed accommodations can be provided.
