Superior Court Judge Brian Stiles to Retire

Skagit County Superior Court Judge Brian L. Stiles will retire on January 10, 20254. A celebration in his honor will begin at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 8, 2025, in courtroom two of the Skagit County Courthouse.

Judge Stiles was appointed as a superior court judge on July 1, 2015. The Skagit County native graduated from Sedro-Woolley High School in 1974, Pacific Lutheran University in 1978, and the University of Puget Sound School of Law in 1981. Prior to his appointment to Superior Court, he was in private practice and then served as Sedro-Woolley’s municipal court judge. He also served as judge pro tem for Skagit County and the Swinomish Tribal Court.

“Judge Stiles has served with integrity throughout his legal career,” said Presiding Judge Elizabeth Neidzwski. “Each person appearing before Judge Stiles has been treated with dignity, and respect, by someone who genuinely cares that they receive a fair and just outcome.”

Judge Stiles plans to spend more time with his family upon retirement. He will be available for private mediations.

“We wish Judge Stiles the best in his retirement and thank him for his career in service to the legal profession and Skagit County,” said Judge Neidzwski.
