CONCRETE HERALD ARTICLES ADDED TO SKAGIT RIVER FLOOD HISTORY ARCHIVE INFORMATION
AVAILABLE ONLINE AND AT LOCAL LIBRARIES
SKAGIT COUNTY - The Historical Newspaper Articles Skagit River Floods project archive project now includes the Concrete Herald. This was probably the most interesting newspaper weve researched, said Larry Kunzler.
Kunzler, his son Josef Kunzler and Skagit County Communications Director Dan Berentson have been working on this project for more than a year. Articles from community newspapers in regard to flooding and flood-related issues have been copied and indexed. The research is online at www.skagitcounty.net under Flood Information and on the Kunzlers website at www.skagitriverhistory.com
The Concrete articles have been added to collections from the Mount Vernon Argus, Burlington Journal, Skagit Valley Herald, and Sedro-Woolley Courier Times. More than 900 articles have been indexed and archived.
The purpose of this research was to make the history on flooding that has been recorded in our communitys newspapers readily accessible to the public, government agencies, and businesses interested in this topic, said Berentson. Also, probably more importantly, it establishes a timeline and a lead to documents to accurately establish what really happened in the past.
The research is available in four bound volumes at libraries throughout Skagit County as well as being available online.
