Investiture of Superior Court Judges Elizabeth Neidzwski and Thomas Verge

Today, Superior Court Judges Neidzwski and Verge took theirs oath of office. The ceremony was held virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Judge Verge has a lengthy career of public service, served as a Skagit County District Court judge for the last five years. He previously served as a full-time Superior Court commissioner in Whatcom County for 11 years and for four years as the elected prosecutor of Skagit County.

“Given the outstanding judges who currently serve and those women and men who have previously served in this Court, it is truly an honor to be sworn in as a Skagit County Superior Court judge. My wife and I would like to thank all those in our community who helped make this happen as no one gets here without tremendous help,” said Judge Verge.

“I am honored to serve Skagit County as a Superior Court judge, and appreciate the great responsibility and trust this community has placed in me to uphold our laws diligently and equitably,” said Judge Neidzwski. Prior to taking the bench, Judge Neidzwski was an attorney at the Skagit County Public Defender’s Office.

Supreme Court Justice Raquel Montoya-Lewis administered the oath of office to Judge Verge while Court of Appeals Judge Cecily Hazelrigg administered Judge Neidzwski’s oath.

Fellow Superior Court judges Brian Stiles and Laura Riquelme, who recently renewed their oaths of office, also participated in the ceremony.  The judges of Superior Court serve four-year terms, which just began this month.
