NEW ORDINANCE PROPOSED TO ADOPT DEVELOPMENT REGULATIONS FOR UNINCORPORATED URBAN GROWTH AREAS

SKAGIT COUNTY – Skagit County Planning and Development Services has released a proposed ordinance to adopt permanent development regulations for the unincorporated portions of the Anacortes, Burlington, Concrete, Mount Vernon, and Sedro-Woolley Urban Growth areas (UGAs).

The proposed permanent regulations would replace the current system of interim ordinances first adopted on August 26, 2003, in response to an order from the Western Washington Growth Managements Hearing Board. The proposed ordinance would permit development in the unincorporated UGAs, including subdivision of property and the issuance of building permits, compliant with the Growth Management Act.

The Skagit County Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on the proposal on Tuesday, February, 22, 2005, at 7:00 p.m.., in the Commissioners Hearing Room, 1800 Continental Place, Mount Vernon.

Further information and /or copies of the proposal are available at Skagit County Planning and Development Services at 1800 Continental Place, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The proposed ordinance is available on the Planning and Development home page at www.skagitcounty.net.
