PUBLIC HEARING SCHEDULED FOR REVIEW OF DRAFT ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT STATEMENT FOR SKAGIT COUNTY CRITICAL AREAS ORDINANCE, FEBRUARY 27


Effective February 12, 2003, Skagit County will make available to the public a Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) evaluating potential impacts of alternative approaches to accomplish Growth Management Act mandates to protect fish and wildlife critical areas and protect natural resource lands. A draft revision of Skagit County’s critical areas ordinance will also be made available.

The documents are available in copy form for viewing at the Skagit County Planning Permit Center, the Skagit County Commissioners office, Skagit County Public Works, and at local libraries. Copies can be purchased for an allowable copying fee. The documents are available online at www.skagit.county.net.

A public hearing will be held at the Skagit County Administrative Building, Hearing Rooms B and C at 700 South Second Street in Mount Vernon, on Thursday, February 27, 2003, beginning at 7 p.m.

Written comment, including facsimile transmissions (360-336-9416), will be accepted until 4:30 p.m., on Monday, March 31, 2003 and must be sent to Skagit County Planning and Permit Center, 200 West Washington, Mount Vernon, WA 98273. Comments transmitted via e-mail will not be accepted.
