LITERACY PROGRAM
ANACORTES At their regularly scheduled meeting yesterday, the Kiwanis Club of Anacortes awarded a check for $1,000 to Skagit Countys Welcome Baby! early learning literacy program. Welcome Baby! Coordinator Meredith Baker accepted the donation and gave a brief presentation about her program.
Welcome Baby provides books, newsletters and toddler learning groups for newborn to three years of age and has served more than 13,000 families and children since 1997. Welcome Baby! provides books and materials to all newborns and their families in Skagit County in addition to operating the Library Linkage Program that provides books for children newborn to three years of age at all Skagit County libraries.
Kiwanis Clubs in Skagit County have been strong supporters of early learning, said Baker. We cant thank the Anacortes club enough for their generous contribution and support.
