WSU Livestock Advisors present the 2006 Livestock & Cattlemens Winterschool: Profit Generating Strategies featuring Joel Huesby of Thundering Hooves. This fourth generation farmer, winner of the 2005 Vim Wright Stewardship Award, will share successful strategies that have worked for his thriving pasture based livestock operation raising grass-fed beef, lambs, free-range chickens, turkeys, pigs and goats. Other topics include Dr. Greg Ingman with emerging beef disease threats, Washington State Universitys Dave Pehling on reducing your risk of Hantavirus, and Linda Neunzig, agriculture entrepreneur, on writing your own farm plan for profitability. The one-day conference will be Saturday, March 11, 2006 at Skagit Valley College in Mount Vernon beginning at 8:30 am. Pre-registration, by March 1, is $75 per individual, $125 per couple and includes a catered Prime Rib lunch.
