Skagit County launches agritourism exploration and analysis project; seeks community input

Today, Skagit County announced the launch of their agritourism exploration and analysis project which seeks to review how agritourism best fits in the comprehensive plan vision and state resource land protections. Skagit County needs community input! This is an ongoing project that is currently in the discovery phase, with a target of developing policy and legislative proposals by Fall 2021.

Skagit County needs the community’s help to evaluate what agritourism means to the county’s agricultural community, rural residents and other stakeholders. Individuals can share their ideas about agritourism within Skagit County at www.skagitcounty.net/SkagitAGT. This is also the best place to watch for upcoming meetings and events.

“Agriculture is an intergral part of Skagit County,” said Commissioner Ron Wesen, a fourth-generation Skagit dairy farmer. “Agritourism is a great way to connect the general population with new, local agricultural products and educate people on how their food gets to their table. I’m excited to explore this project, with the community's input.”
