February 17, 2021: COVID-19 vaccine updates from Skagit County

No First-Dose Appointments for the week of 2/15

There are no new first-dose vaccine appointments available at the Skagit County Fairgrounds for the week of February 15th due to lack of supply. Second-dose appointments will not be impacted. An update for the week of 2/22 will be provided on our website on Saturday, February 20th at 9:00 AM at www.skagitcounty.net/COVIDvaccine.

Vaccine Distribution Overview

Each week, Washington State receives vaccines doses from the federal government. The Washington Department of Health (WA DOH) then determines how much supply to allocate to vaccine providers throughout the State based on several factors, including:
• Number of eligible individuals within a particular county
• Number of vaccine providers in a particular county
• Provider capacity to administer vaccine (ie: populations being served, ability to use supply within the required time fame, amount of doses on hand, and plans for following week)
• County Health Department recommendations
• Equity of vaccine distribution
• Provider requests

Skagit Public Health is one of many vaccine providers in the community. There are several vaccine providers in Skagit County, including hospitals, clinics, and pharmacies. Each provider works individually with WA DOH to request weekly vaccine supply. Below is a current list of providers in Skagit County:

WA DOH has encouraged vaccine providers to work with other providers in their region to maximize availability. For this reason, most vaccine providers do not require that you are a resident of any specific county or region to be vaccinated through them. Please note: It is very important to receive both doses from the same provider, as second doses are allocated based on where first doses are administered.
