MINOR CHANGES PLANNED FOR GUEMES ISLAND FERRY SCHEDULE

SKAGIT COUNTY - Skagit County Public Works, in conjunction with the Guemes Island Ferry Round Table and Anacortes School District have decided on changes to the Guemes Island Ferry Sailing Schedule, according to Guemes Island Ferry Manager Ron Panzero.

“With 18 months of data, citizen input and Anacortes School District needs, we have added one additional run at 7:55 a.m. for commuters, and a 4:00 p.m. run for the school district and a 6:00 p.m. ferry for the evening commuters,” said Panzero. “There are other minor changes to accommodate times of less demand on the weekends. This was not an easy task but all parties involved are satisfied with the results and feel that this schedule will accommodate year round service.”

In addition, the morning runs at 11:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. have been changed to 10:45 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. to accommodate one extra trip as needed when demand is heavy.

The new schedule will be implemented starting March 19, 2008. New schedules can be picked up at the Guemes Island Ferry office beginning March 1, 2008. The schedule is available online on the Guemes Ferry web site.
