FRESH CHEESE MADE SAFELY CLASS
Queso fresco is a delicious soft cheese that has been made for generations.
Traditionally it was made using fresh (raw) milk that was not heat-treated
or pasteurized. This is another food handling practice that needs
to be updated. Recently, several Skagit County residents became ill
from eating cheese made with fresh, raw milk.
To learn the safe way to make this cheese, see it made, and taste
samples plan to attend the FREE Fresh Cheese Made Safely
class presented by WSU Cooperative Extension/Skagit County in cooperation
with the Skagit Health Department.
Anna Zaragoza and Frances Herrara, Nutrtion Aides from Yakima County
Cooperative Extension will instruct the class in English and Spanish.
They have extensive experience teaching people in their community
how to make queso fresco.
The class will be held from 6:30-8:30 PM on Tuesday, March 18 at the
Trinity Lutheran Church in Mt. Vernon. Pre-registration is required
because the class size is limited to 15.
TO REGISTER CALL: 428-4270.
