COUNTY SEEKS PUBLIC COMMENT ON UPDATED COMPREHENSIVE PLAN
Meetings scheduled for public hearing and comment

SKAGIT COUNTY - Skagit County has scheduled several public hearings to allow the public to comment on the proposed update of its Comprehensive Plan.

The Washington State Growth Management Act (GMA) requires Skagit County to periodically update its Comprehensive Plan, land use/zoning map, and development regulations. Draft, updated versions of these documents are now available for review. Skagit County seeks public and agency comments, and will hold public hearings in March, extending into April if necessary.

"Public participation is key to good planning," said Gary Christensen, director of Skagit County Planning and Development Services. "Please help Skagit County plan for the next 20 years. Become familiar with the Comprehensive Plan, send your written comments, and attend the hearings. Don't miss your opportunity to shape the future of Skagit County."

The public is encouraged to review the 2005 Growth Management Act Update website at www.skagitcounty.net/gmaupdate and attend the scheduled hearings. All hearings will begin at 6 p.m. in the hearing room of the Skagit County Commissioners Administrative Building, 1800 Continental Place, Mount Vernon.
