SKAGIT COUNTY GOES "LIVE"

Skagit County’s Television Station, Skagit21 will begin broadcasting Board of County Commissioners Meetings “LIVE” beginning March 13

SKAGIT COUNTY – After a successful trial run of broadcasting last night’s Planning Commission meeting, Skagit County Government’s Channel 21 will begin broadcasting Commissioners meetings live, beginning Monday, March 13 at 10:00 a.m.

“Our goal is to give the public access to county information as quickly and accurately as possible and now through live television, viewers will see Skagit County Government in action as it happens” said the Rich Monroe, the county’s government access television coordinator.

The station currently records Commissioners Meetings on Mondays and Tuesdays and plays them later in the week. “That routine will continue except now, we’ll interrupt regular programming when those meetings are video taped and simultaneously feed the signal out “live” to our viewers,” said Monroe.

Skagit County Government Access skagit21 is transmitted on Comcast Cable, Channel 21 in Skagit County.

Some of the other benefits of live broadcast are timely feedback from the public, staff in other buildings can tune in, and the public has immediate access to government action.
