GUEMES FERRY HAUL OUT SCHEDULED FOR JULY 8 THROUGH JULY 18

The Guemes Island Ferry will undergo a biennial dry docking as required by the United States Coast Guard commencing on July 8 through approximately July 18, after the last run at approximately 6:30 pm on July 8, 2003. Skagit County anticipates that the ferry will be back in service prior to Noon, on Friday, July 18, 2003, barring unforeseen repairs.

A passenger only service will be provided during the outage and on the regular ferry schedule.

In addition, ticket handling procedures have been modified. Temporarily, a fourth crew member has been added to handle all cash, and other transactions. This means that the purser will issue all tickets and conduct the transactions necessary to issue all tickets. While proceeding onto the ferry, a deckhand will look to see that each passenger has been issued a ticket and then may proceed onto the ferry. This change is necessary to meet certain requirements of the State Auditor. “We appreciate your patience,” said Steve Cox, ferry manager.
