Skagit County receives a .09 percent rebate on sales tax from Washington State for public facility financing for the construction of infrastructure that stimulates economic development. In 2002 the Board of Skagit County Commissioners adopted Resolution 17837, issuing bonds of $8,000,000 to finance public facility projects within Skagit County with the principal and interest being paid from sales tax collected. A Public Facilities Committee meets regularly to make recommendations to the Commissioners.

“These funds are vital for the development and maintenance of our infrastructure in Skagit County,” said Skagit County Commissioner Don Munks.

To date more than $20 million of funding has been awarded to projects funded by Rural County Sales and Use Tax in Skagit County. Project proponents have invested more than $87,443,000.
