COMMISSIONERS PROCLAIM MARCH 23-29, 2003 “ SUPPORT OUR TROOPS WEEK” IN SKAGIT COUNTY

SKAGIT COUNTY – The Skagit County Board of Commissioners proclaimed March 23-29, 2003 as “Support Our Troops Week” in Skagit County by a unanimous vote at their regular board meeting on Monday, March 24, 2003.

The resolution encouraged citizens of Skagit County to exercise a patriotic duty by acknowledging the fathers, mothers, sons and daughters of the county, and from every corner of the United States and allied nations, who heroically carry out the war on terrorism.

“Our citizens and county employees are encouraged to show the community’s unwavering commitment to honor members of the Armed Forces for their courageous and patriotic duty in defending our country, its freedoms, and way of life,” said Skagit County Commissioner Ted Anderson.

PROCLAIMING MARCH 23-29, 2003
 “SUPPORT OUR TROOPS WEEK” IN SKAGIT COUNTY 

WHEREAS, on September 11, 2001, thousands of Americans and citizens of eighty countries were killed in a terrorist attack on the United States; and 
WHEREAS, America has responded to the terrorist attack by leading an international effort to end terrorism; and 
WHEREAS, victory in the battle against terrorism will be achieved due to the courage, sacrifice, and commitment of Americans, principally the men and women in the United States Armed Forces; and 
WHEREAS, all Skagit County citizens, regardless of whether they support the foreign policy of any administration, believe in providing a compassionate and supportive community for residents of the county in all branches of the Armed Forces, the Reserves and those called to perform homeland security duties, as well as the families and friends of those serving; and 
WHEREAS, citizens of Skagit County exercise a patriotic duty by acknowledging the fathers, mothers, sons and daughters of the county, and from every corner of the United States and allied nations, who heroically carry out the war on terrorism. 
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that March 23rd-29th is declared,
“Support our Troops Week”
in Skagit County, and citizens and county employees are encouraged to show the community’s unwavering commitment to honor members of the Armed Forces for their courageous and patriotic duty in defending our country, its freedoms, and way of life.
